Youths torch suspect’s home after woman’s murder in Imo State


Police in Imo State have arrested one Boniface Oduele who allegedly conspired with his two fleeing sons Chinedu Oduele alias Bishop and Onyekachi Oduele aka Papa to kill one Rita Dike, 41. The incident happened on February 29, 2020, it was learnt.

Sources said that the family of the suspects and that of the deceased had been feuding over a piece of land, and that at a point Oduele Senior was attacked by their rival Dike. It was gathered that Oduele invited his children and allegedly instructed them to beat up the woman, which they did. The woman was said to have gone into coma and was rushed to hospital where she died. Police spokesman SP Orlando Ikeokwu said Boniface Oduele has been arrested while efforts are on to arrest his two fleeing sons. In another development, the state police command also arrested one Chibuzo Nwagbara, of Umuakpa Umungwa community in Obowo Local Government Area of the state, who allegedly murdered his half-brother Elijah Nwagbara over a land dispute. According to police report the incident occurred on March 1, 2020. Ikeokwu said that the command received a report of a case of murder, and a team of policemen was detailed to Umungwa where the policemen saw Elijah’s body in a pool of blood. Elijah’s half-brother Chibuzor was said to have fled after the alleged murder. Ikeokwu said Chibuzo picked up a knife and went to where the deceased was lying down and stabbed him to death. He said the suspect was later arrested in Abia State.
